My husband and I are big fans of Downton Abbey. We watch it together so it’s kind of “our thing”. While catching up with the episodes on DVD, this quote was one of our favorites from the night.
Isn’t it charming how they speak? It truly makes everything sound better! Later that week, I tried to use the quote myself to fend off some advances but it just didn’t have the same effect. It got me thinking though, it had very cute, Valentine-y potential. I initially thought to put it on a t-shirt but then settled on this idea since I had just happened to pick up pillowcases on sale at Ikea.
I debated whether to use fabric paint, iron-on vinyl or sharpies but eventually decided to go with iron-on transfers. For these all you need is a computer, printer, iron and transfer paper.
The trickiest thing about using the transfer paper was figuring out how to mirror the image so that when you place it face down the lettering comes out in the right direction. I did my text in Pages then saved as PDF and before printing, selected “flip horizontally” so it came out looking like this:
That way when you put it in place it will look like this:
And after ironing, TA-DA!
And here’s how they look together…
Such an easy project using things most of us have in our house with the exception of the transfer paper which you can buy at any office supply, craft store or purchase on Amazon here. It could also be adapted to any words that hold significance between you and your love
