Not quite sure when (or why) it exactly happened, but somewhere along the way Halloween has become right up there with Christmas as far as house decorating goes. Little by little I have been adding to my collection of spooky decor, usually stocking up on the major markdowns right after Halloween. Seriously, who can pass up furry spiders and pumpkin lanterns for 75% off?!? So our house is looking pretty decked out right now. Above is our mantel, adorned with the Crate & Barrel spider web table runner that prompted a special trip to buy it for 50% off… so worth it! Thanks Sandy for the road trip!
And this door hanging spider web I got at Pottery Barn Kids (back when they had their own store @ Rockvale) for just under $7. Paired up with this motion activated spider it makes a super scary entry into my scrapbook room… maybe it’ll keep the kids away!
No room has been left untouched as you see here in our powder room where this creepy oversized spider has come to hang out on our mirror. Also, we have our bloody hands which are approved by the kids as one of our few decorations that are “scary enough”.
But it can’t all be scary so we do have some autumnal decor throughout the house as well. The bonus is this stuff gets to stay up through Thanksgiving!
I’ve also gotten back into creative mode recently. Here’s one project that I was happy to see finally come together. I started with the idea last year when I found this branch & owl on the computer and was able to cut it out with my Cricut using my Sure Cuts A Lot software. I knew I wanted to frame it but didn’t know how. Recently I was wandering Joann’s and found this awesome orange burlap. Seriously, I have no business perusing the fabric section of Joann’s but what can I say? I loved it and it was cheap, cheap, cheap!! I have a bit of a problem turning down a good deal, did I mention that before? And so it all came together; the burlap, owl silhouette, and some ribbon that’s been looking for a project of it’s own.
Also dove into my 7gypsies printers tray project I have been meaning to get to. Another bargain I scored. This one I got at AC Moore for $6… should have been $12 but it was marked wrong- yay!! Used paper & embellishments from Imaginisce’s Apple Cider collection along with some of my favorite mementos of Fall.
Here’s another side project… not really seasonal but a cute new addition to my scrap room thanks to my good friends Sandy & Tina. Vinyl is such an easy & fun way to add a little something new to a room. Reminds me of how I want to try to cut my own designs with my Cricut. Next project on the list…
